About

Research-driven architects

The interplay between research and practice is at the core of our organisation. This allows us to build and share knowledge, to better understand who we design for, to anticipate the long-term impact of what we do, and realize strong ambitions in a rapidly changing world. As a collective effort, we commit to a research-driven approach in each project, from beginning to end.

Our organisation

As a caring organisation, we want to foster the capacities of each collaborator. We are organised along the principles of collaborative governance, which means that each collaborator has a direct line with the directors of the office. In this way, we promote an open dialogue and keep a close connection between collaborators and the organisation as a whole.

Our approach

Our research-driven approach is grounded in working simultaneously across three interrelated scales: the city, the building and the interior. An analytical approach that drives iterative exploration and mutual reinforcement. This integrated way of working crystallises into eight key topics.

  • urban systems – From spatial layers such as water, landscape and mobility towards climate‑resilient urban scenarios.
  • social dynamics – Where socio‑economic forces and spatial design meet to co‑create urban life.
  • sufficiency – Defining buildings by sufficient use, not by excess performance.
  • climate-responsive design – Maximising climate’s benefits, minimising its impacts.
  • façade engineering – Balancing comfort, daylight and energy through intelligent façades.
  • material flows – From linear consumption to circular value in every building layer.
  • wellbeing – Designing environments that support autonomy, competence and connection.
  • process – Connecting data, design and dialogue for purposeful, research‑driven architecture
